This is the highest number of research teams selected among universities in the Busan area.
This project is promoted to support female graduate student research leaders in autonomously conducting research projects with science and engineering undergraduates, enhancing their research capabilities and leadership, and growing into outstanding research and development personnel.
The female graduate students from Pukyong National University selected for the project include five in the advanced course: Kim Boram, master’s student in Spatial Information Systems Engineering; Park Dongju, master’s student in Convergence Bionics Engineering for the 4th Industrial Revolution; Park Soyoung, master’s student in Biotechnology; Lee Jiye, master’s student in Fisheries Biology; and Lim Seonmi, master’s student in Chemical Engineering. Additionally, two-year master’s student Cho Hyunjin in Biotechnology was selected in the general course, making a total of six.
Each of these graduate students will serve as the research leader of their respective teams, organizing undergraduate team members to carry out projects.
They will conduct research projects with their advisors until October this year and receive research funding of up to 8 million KRW for the advanced course and up to 6.6 million KRW for the general course.
Kim Boram’s research topic is “Analysis of Marine Debris Inflow Characteristics Using Open-Source Hardware and Deep Learning,” Park Dongju’s is “Development of Wound Dressing Materials for Healing Using Gelatin Derived from Fish Processing Byproducts,” and Park Soyoung’s is “Evaluation of Host-Associated Probiotics Suitability for Weaned Piglets to Reduce Manure Odor.”
Lee Jiye’s topic is “Molecular Characterization of Endotoxin-Binding Proteins in Fish,” Lim Seonmi’s is “Development of Electrochemical Conversion Catalysts for Oxalic Acid,” and Cho Hyunjin’s is “Production of 2,3-Butanediol Using the Harmful Marine Plant Spartina sp.”
