For Ramen Enthusiasts! The Hyundai Seoul '88 Ramen Stage'
Happy to be able to buy even ramen at the department store♥
Calling all ramen enthusiasts! When do you enjoy ramen the most? Ramen during overseas trips, after water activities, or secretly at night without your mom knowing? Honestly, ramen tastes great anytime! Hearing that there are over 200 varieties of ramen loved by people of all ages and genders, regardless of time and place, I went to check it out. Located on the B1 floor of The Hyundai Seoul, 88 Ramen Stage is a place that just hearing about it makes you happy. So, how was it?
As soon as you enter, the goods zone welcomes you. Fried egg magnets, Crocs Jibbitz, timers?this is a space where ramen fans can’t help but open their wallets. There are also anti-fog glasses wipes for those who wear glasses, and ramen-shaped slime among various other items. If you don’t buy something here, you might not be recognized as a true ramen fan.
The colorful ramen displayed by color is also the photo zone of 88 Ramen Stage. Although they claim to sell over 200 kinds of domestic and international ramen, at the time of my visit, there were more easily available ramen than hard-to-find ones, which was a bit disappointing. Also, some of the same ramen were placed in different spots. Especially, the stock of foreign ramen was very limited. However, seeing both sides filled with ramen up to a height out of reach brought a sense of peace to my heart.
TMI: I had been desperately looking for the recently released Buldak Jjambbong, and luckily, I found exactly one left. It almost slipped past me because the color was similar to others! If you’re looking for a specific ramen, make sure to search with your eyes wide open.
“A master never blames their tools,” but ramen tastes best when cooked in an aluminum pot and served in a snack bar-style bowl. Moreover, the kettle-shaped aluminum pot is a must-have item when cooking Jjajang ramen. You can’t afford to miss even a single noodle strand.
There are various options like Huayu (fire-flavored oil) and Payu (green onion-flavored oil) that go well with both soup and stir-fried ramen. There are also flakes that bring out a richer broth flavor by infusing vegetables. Highly recommended for those who want to enjoy ramen like a special dish.
They are selling meal kits made in collaboration between Samyang and 88 Ramen Stage. At the time of my visit, they weren’t displayed, so Buldak fans had to turn their eyes elsewhere with tears in their eyes.
You can’t taste boiling ramen inside 88 Ramen Stage, but don’t be disappointed. There are ramen-shaped cakes that preserve the noodle shape without boiling. You can order your choice from Mango & Passionfruit, Granola & Raspberry Yogurt, Jjajangmyeon, or Tiramisu flavors, and be careful not to blow on them!
The event runs until April 30, so hurry and visit!
