[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Jung-wan] Police have launched an investigation into a Mercedes-Benz driver who stopped a taxi carrying women and children and shouted and cursed at the driver.
According to the Bundang Police Station in Gyeonggi Province on the 12th, a report was received from a resident on the 9th at around 1:50 p.m. near Taejaegogae in Bundang-gu, Seongnam City, stating that a man identified as A, driving a Mercedes-Benz, was shouting at taxi driver B, saying "Drive properly."
Earlier, A had a dispute with B, who was trying to change lanes, then increased his speed to block the taxi in front. He then stood next to B’s driver's seat and shouted for several minutes, saying things like "Drive properly. Answer me. Did you do wrong or not?" and reportedly cursed for about five minutes.
The incident was brought to public attention after female passenger C, who was in the taxi, posted about it on an online community. According to the video, the man standing outside the driver's side window continuously shouted curses at the taxi driver.
C said, "The other driver cursed at the taxi driver, who was like a father figure, for about five minutes," adding, "I told him to stop because there was a child in the back, but he kept shouting and cursing."
She also said, "The children in the back had to cover their ears and close their eyes in fear," and "I believe threatening the taxi driver is also threatening the safety of me and the children as passengers."
