On the 12th, Animal Freedom Coalition released a report video showing a retriever with a collar precariously standing on a chair and hanging from a tree in the yard of a house in Suncheon, Jeollanam-do.
In the video, the retriever climbs onto a plastic chair and holds onto a persimmon tree with its front paws. Since it was wearing a collar, if it fell from the chair, there was a dangerous risk of strangulation and suffocation.
According to the informant, the retriever actually suffered strangulation after falling from the chair in January. It is known that this cruel act continued afterward.
Also, in the video, the retriever barks wildly and runs away late at night to avoid its owner.
According to the police, the owner committed this cruel act to correct the retriever's behavior.

They also criticized the lukewarm response from the police and local government. Animal Freedom Coalition said, "The informant immediately reported the (retriever abuse) case to the police, but the police response was only lukewarm," and continued, "According to protocol, the police should have registered it as an animal abuse case and requested the local government to isolate the abused animal, but instead, they only issued a guidance measure to the owner and left. Afterward, the local government was contacted, but their response was equally passive."
They added, "Animal Freedom Coalition rushed to Suncheon to meet with the police and local government, but all parties avoided responsibility," and said, "In particular, the police said, 'We saw the dog strangled by the tree,' but only repeated, 'We have taken all necessary measures, so please file an official complaint.' The local government stated they would consider isolating the abused animal only if there is a formal request from the police."
