[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Myunghwan] A fire broke out on a mountain in Dasan-myeon, Goryeong-gun, Gyeongbuk Province, prompting the forestry authorities to begin firefighting efforts.
The forestry authorities announced that at around 1:32 PM on the 12th, a fire broke out on a mountain in Dasan-myeon, Goryeong-gun, Gyeongbuk Province, and they issued a 'Level 1 Forest Fire' alert and started firefighting operations. The authorities deployed 16 firefighting helicopters and 55 firefighters to combat the fire.
The authorities estimate that the fire started at a nearby garbage dump and spread to the mountain.
At the scene, strong winds with a maximum speed of 9 m/s are blowing, but no casualties have been reported.
Goryeong-gun sent disaster alert messages to residents, urging them to refrain from entering the mountain and asking nearby residents and hikers to evacuate to safe locations.
