Im Jeongyeop, Prospective Candidate for Jeonju Mayor, "Strengthening Social Welfare for Youth and Seniors"
40 Million Won Culture Card for Youth, 350,000 to 500,000 Won Support for Hearing Aids and Dentures for Seniors Pledge
[Jeonju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Han-ho] Im Jeong-yeop, former Wanju County Governor and prospective candidate for Jeonju mayor, promised to strengthen social welfare for economically vulnerable youth and the elderly.
On the 12th, Im announced through a press release that he would support healthy cultural activities for youth and healthy retirement life for the elderly.
To this end, he declared that youth would receive a "Youth Culture Happiness Card" providing 100,000 KRW quarterly, totaling 400,000 KRW annually.
The support targets are youth aged 19 to 29 who have resided in Jeonju for more than one year, totaling 90,860 people (based on the 2021 Ministry of the Interior and Safety resident registration population statistics).
This card can be used in Jeonju for movies, theater, sports viewing, or book purchases.
Online purchases or consumption are not allowed; it can only be used at offline stores in the Jeonju area. Im explained that this would encourage outdoor activities among people in their twenties and revitalize the downtown commercial district.
Additionally, Im expressed plans to expand support projects for hearing aids and dentures to address hearing loss and tooth loss among the elderly.
The target is elderly people aged 70 or older receiving basic pensions. Hearing aids will be supported up to 350,000 KRW based on actual purchase costs, and dentures (including both full and partial dentures) will be supported up to 500,000 KRW, with a maximum of 250,000 KRW covered for the individual's share.
Im said, "We will carefully examine what economically vulnerable youth and elderly people require from our society and provide maximum support."
