Jeonju City to Provide Half-Rent Housing for Homeless Youth
Recruiting 19 Youths to Move into Youth Purchase Rental Housing at Jungnosong-dong and 2 Other Locations
[Jeonju=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Han-ho] Jeonju City announced on the 12th that it will provide housing where homeless youth can live at rent prices more than 50% cheaper than market rates to ease their housing cost burden.
Accordingly, Jeonju City will recruit 19 young tenants from the 22nd to the 26th of this month for youth purchase rental housing located near Seonosong Art Village, including 14 units in Jungnosong-dong, 2 units in Hyoja-dong near Jeonju University, and 1 unit in Geumam-dong near Jeonbuk National University.
The supply types are two: 16 single-occupancy units and 1 three-person shared unit.
Considering the frequent moves typical of youth due to studies and job preparation, the rental housing is equipped with basic appliances such as refrigerators, washing machines, and air conditioners.
Eligibility for moving in includes youth aged 19 to 39, university students, and job seekers.
Priority applicants include those who have left (or are scheduled to leave) child welfare facilities, basic livelihood security recipients, lower-income groups, and single-parent households.
Second priority applicants are those whose monthly average income of themselves and their parents is below 100% of the previous year's average monthly income for urban workers by household size (5.32 million KRW for two-person households, 6.41 million KRW for three-person households).
Third priority applicants are those whose own monthly average income is below 120% of the previous year's average monthly income for urban workers by household size (3.85 million KRW).
Rental conditions vary by housing unit, but the rental deposit is 500,000 KRW, and the monthly rent is at or below 50% of the market rate.
The rental period is two years, with the possibility of renewal up to two times if renewal conditions are met.
Jeonju City plans to verify applicants’ eligibility, income, and assets, and finalize and announce the tenants starting from the first priority group in May.
Selected tenants can move in within 60 days from the contract date.
