"Let's Fight Hate Crimes" Korean American College Students in the US Donate Soccer Tournament Proceeds
[Asia Economy New York=Special Correspondent Joselgina] Korean American college students in the U.S. are holding the '2022 Korean American Soccer Tournament' to stand against anti-Asian hate crimes.
According to the New York Korean Association on the 11th (local time), eight teams composed of Korean American current students and alumni from nine universities including George Washington University and New York University will compete on the 16th at the Worldwick Superdome in New Jersey.
This tournament was planned to unite the voices of Korean Americans against anti-Asian hate crimes and to convey the message that they must stand up proudly. The organizers decided to donate all proceeds from the tournament to the New York Korean Association to be used for activities preventing anti-Asian hate crimes. It is reported that this is the first official soccer tournament featuring Korean American college students from across the U.S.

Charles Yoon, president of the New York Korean Association, said, "We express our gratitude to Korean American college students and others who have joined forces to eradicate anti-Asian hate crimes," adding, "We are pleased that the Korean American community, including college students, has become more united through soccer."
