On that day, President Moon mentioned on his Twitter, "I wasn't paying attention to the number of followers, but today I suddenly saw that it had reached 2,005,000."
He continued, "Twitter has been an important means of communication since I entered politics," and "I would like to thank those who have always sent me encouragement and love through tweets."
He also expressed hope to continue communicating through Twitter even after his retirement. He said, "I look forward to having new conversations about a new life, away from politics."

In April 2016, while serving as a member of the National Assembly, he became the first domestic politician to surpass 1 million followers.
