The program is an experience-centered film education reflecting the local characteristics of Haeundae, a movie city, aimed at cultivating students' cultural and artistic sensitivity and revitalizing film education in collaboration between schools and the community.
In January last year, the Office of Education signed a business agreement with the Busan International Children's and Youth Film Festival and conducted film classes using experts for 57 classes in 22 elementary and middle schools in the district.
This year, reflecting the local characteristics of Haeundae, the movie city, the number of schools and classes targeted for film classes has been expanded to 23 schools and 96 classes.
Students participate in the 'Read the Movie!' program, where they watch films with high educational effects screened at film festivals, linked to curricula such as Korean language, social studies, and art, and learn how to interpret films. They also engage in the 'Make the Movie!' experiential activity, where they form teams to shoot, produce, and edit films themselves.
Field experiences utilizing the Busan Cinema Center, Busan Cinema Center Library, and Im Kwon-taek Film Museum are also planned.
The Office of Education plans to operate a 'Conversation with Film Directors, Actors, and Writers' program for students who participated in film production in November.
Films produced by students will also be presented at the 2nd Haedajeong Children and Youth Film Festival.
A representative of the Haeundae Office of Education said, "The program is operated by leveraging the characteristics of the Haeundae area, which is rich in film-related infrastructure," and added, "We believe it will be very helpful for students to explore careers related to film."
