Yudonggyun, Mayor of Mapo-gu, and Jang Sinsang, County Head of Hoengseong, Named as Next Candidates
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Yuseonghun, Mayor of Geumcheon-gu, participated in the ‘No Oversized Packaging Gift Acceptance and Purchase Challenge’ to reduce packaging waste.
This campaign was initiated with the purpose of reducing waste by cutting down on oversized packaging and single-use products in daily life, thereby realizing a carbon-neutral circular economy. It is conducted by creating signs using recycled materials such as the back of paper boxes or scrap paper, taking certification photos, and nominating the next participants.
Mayor Yuseonghun wrote "No Oversized Packaging Acceptance, No Purchase" on the back of a corrugated cardboard box, took a certification photo, and joined the challenge. He nominated Yudonggyun, Mayor of Mapo-gu, and Jang Sinsang, County Governor of Hoengseong, as the next participants.

Yuseonghun, Mayor of Geumcheon-gu, said, “Due to the government’s COVID-19 prevention measures and social distancing, a large amount of disposable packaging for delivery has been generated, causing serious environmental pollution,” and added, “I ask all residents to join in reducing single-use products for carbon neutrality and environmental protection.”
