9999 Young People in Gwangju Declare Support for Kang Gi-jeong, Gwangju Mayor Preliminary Candidate
'Impossible is Nothing' Blue Rose Performance and Talk Show Held
"We Will Open a Tomorrow Where Youth Dream and Realize a Vibrant Gwangju"
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Yoon Jamin] A total of 9,999 young people in the Gwangju area expressed their support for Kang Gijeong, the Democratic Party of Korea's preliminary candidate for mayor of Gwangju Metropolitan City.
On the 10th, Candidate Kang held a talk show with about 250 people from various sectors, including university students, full-time housewives, young entrepreneurs, and cultural and artistic workers.
At the event, Candidate Kang shared the dreams and concerns of the young participants and took time to seek alternatives together.
The talk show covered various topics such as ▲poor jobs that do not even meet the minimum wage ▲young artists leaving due to the harsh living environment in the region ▲entrepreneurs suffering from the aftereffects of startup failures ▲childcare and job policies for young people whose careers were interrupted by childbirth ▲and ways to change the 'No-Jaem (no fun) Gwangju,' which lacks spaces and programs to enjoy and relax.
After the talk show, a 'Declaration of Support by 9,999 Youth' and a blue rose performance wishing for victory were held.
The youth said, "The flower language of the blue rose means 'a miracle that becomes possible after effort, even though everyone thought it was impossible.' It signifies that 9,999 young people will change Gwangju, a city of impossibility, into a 'city of possibility and opportunity' together with Candidate Kang Gijeong."
They added, "Currently, young people are leaving Gwangju for various reasons such as university, employment, startups, and leisure. Only Candidate Kang can confidently and swiftly open a new era for Gwangju that guarantees our future," explaining their reasons for support.
Candidate Kang said, "Each young person faces different situations and concerns. However, the keywords that cut across these concerns are 'jobs' and 'living infrastructure.' This is a demand to guarantee the dignified lives of young people."
