Gwangyang Steelworks Holds 'Talent Sharing Flextime' with MZ Generation Employees
Expanding a Culture of Sharing Among Young Employees Through Various Volunteer Activities Actively Reflecting MZ Generation Needs
Expecting Continued Practice of Corporate Citizenship Management Philosophy Centered on MZ Generation Employees
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Heo Seon-sik] POSCO Gwangyang Steelworks (Director Lee Jin-su) announced that on the 9th, it held a talent donation volunteer activity event called ‘Talent Sharing Flex Time,’ centered on the MZ generation, at the Madong Reservoir Ecological Park area.
This event was organized to encourage the increasing participation of the MZ generation in volunteer activities within Gwangyang Steelworks and to actively spread a culture of sharing among young employees.
Instead of simple volunteer work, Gwangyang Steelworks designed the ‘Talent Sharing Flex Time’ event with volunteer activities that MZ generation employees can enjoy more based on their talents, interests, and hobbies.
In particular, it attracted attention by actively reflecting the needs of the MZ generation, who have a high interest in eco-friendly activities such as plogging volunteer work, which protects the environment by collecting trash discarded along the roadside while maintaining health through walking.
Employees participating in the plogging volunteer activity walked along the Madong Reservoir Ecological Park trail, conducted environmental cleanup, and spent meaningful time communicating across generations.
Additionally, Gwangyang Steelworks selected seven of the currently operating talent volunteer groups to set up booths, providing the MZ generation with opportunities to experience talent volunteer activities they had been interested in.
MZ generation employees participated in volunteer activities such as △photography △nail art △balloon art △calligraphy △knitting △coding education △and puffed rice snack sharing, creating happy memories for about 200 children from local community centers invited to the event, fostering harmony with local residents.
One employee who participated in the volunteer work said, “It was a meaningful time to communicate with senior colleagues and fellow MZ generation employees and engage in various talent-sharing volunteer activities together,” adding, “Especially since it was the first time young employees took the lead in volunteer activities, it felt even more enjoyable. I will continue to participate steadily in volunteer work to actively practice the corporate citizenship management philosophy in the local community.”
Meanwhile, since 2014, Gwangyang Steelworks has been operating 43 talent volunteer groups that incorporate employees’ skills, experiences, and hobbies into volunteer work. In addition, through various volunteer and sharing activities, it actively practices the ‘corporate citizenship’ management philosophy of coexisting and developing together with the local community.
