BMW i4, Performance, Ride Comfort, and Price All Deliver 'Godseongbi'
164km in 10 Minutes with Fast Charging
[Asia Economy Reporter Choi Dae-yeol] BMW's first electric 4-door coupe, the i4, has launched its domestic market campaign emphasizing dynamic driving performance. The new model, recently released in Korea, continues the legacy of the existing 4 Series while incorporating the unique advantages of electric vehicles.
The vehicle reflects design technologies that allow it to fully deliver its performance. With high torsional rigidity, lightweight design, and an aerodynamic drag coefficient of only 0.24Cd, driving remains stable under any condition. The center of gravity is up to 53mm lower than that of the brand's compact sedan, the 3 Series. Nearly 50:50 front-to-rear weight distribution and a wide track (distance between left and right wheels) enable precise cornering. Rear air suspension is standard on all models, enhancing ride comfort and adjusting the vehicle's weight balance in real time during driving.
BMW's latest 5th generation electric drive train, the eDrive, delivers a maximum output of 340 horsepower. The high-performance model, the i4 M50, produces 544 horsepower. As the first electric vehicle in the M brand lineup, it features all-wheel drive along with unique suspension and brakes. Using the Sport Boost mode, it accelerates from zero to 100 km/h in 3.9 seconds.
The new car comes standard with BMW Iconic Sound Electric, developed in collaboration with world-renowned composer Hans Zimmer. It produces distinctive sounds based on the accelerator pedal input and vehicle speed. The adaptive regenerative braking function also draws attention. According to BMW Korea, this feature uses self-learning artificial intelligence to comprehensively assess surrounding conditions and traffic flow, automatically adjusting regenerative braking intensity and coasting to optimize energy recovery efficiency. Standard regenerative braking can be applied in three intensity levels. The driving range is 429 km (combined) for the i4 eDrive40 and 378 km for the i4 M50. When charged at a DC fast charging station with a maximum output of 205 kW, up to 164 km of range can be gained in just 10 minutes.
Additionally, Driving Assistant Professional, which includes Active Cruise Control, Lane Keeping Assist, and Collision Avoidance Steering Assist, is provided as standard. The Reverse Assistant function helps steer the vehicle backward up to a distance of 50 meters following the entry path, and Parking Assistant Plus supports easy parking through a surround view system. The i4 eDrive40 M Sport Package is priced at 66.5 million KRW, the i4 eDrive M Sport Pro at 73.1 million KRW, the i4 M50 at 84.9 million KRW, and the i4 M50 Pro at 86.6 million KRW.
