SK Shielders Declares 'Net Zero 2040'... "Further Strengthening ESG Management"
Establishing Eco-Friendly Management Systems, Social Safety Nets, and Board-Centered Responsible Management
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Cheol-hyun] SK Shieldus (CEO Park Jin-hyo) announced on the 8th that it will further strengthen ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) management through the declaration of 'Net Zero 2040' for proactive greenhouse gas reduction.
Among the ESG promotion strategies, in the environmental sector, the goal is to establish an eco-friendly management system that minimizes greenhouse gas emissions and environmental pollution based on resource and energy saving and efficient use throughout overall management activities. ▲ Establishment of eco-friendly policy implementation plans such as climate change response, greenhouse gas management and reduction, and energy efficiency improvement ▲ Development of response plans for environmental laws and policies will be promoted. In the mid to long term, the company plans to review and promote the introduction of international standard certifications related to environmental management such as Environmental Management System (ISO 14001) and Energy Management System (ISO 50001), and also plans to publish a sustainability management report.
SK Shieldus is also promoting 'Net Zero 2040' for greenhouse gas reduction. Setting a target 10 years ahead of the government's carbon neutrality goal of 2050, the company has begun execution toward 2040. To this end, ▲ conversion of business vehicles to electric and hydrogen vehicles ▲ reduction of electricity usage in buildings and major facilities as well as domestic wastewater ▲ efficiency improvement in recycling of waste products and equipment are being pursued. Specifically, the plan is to convert about 800 business vehicles, including dispatch vehicles, to electric vehicles by 2030, and achieve 100% conversion to electric and hydrogen vehicles by 2040.
To create a healthy security industry ecosystem, SK Shieldus and its partners will also establish 'ECO Shieldus,' which enables sustainable co-growth. In the governance sector, to implement ESG responsible management centered on the board of directors, the independence, diversity, and expertise of the board will be strengthened, and proactive risk management through production of ethics management educational content and establishment of compliance and ethics regulations will be conducted to carry out compliance management activities.
