A Presidential Committee to Implement a Digital Platform Government... Government App Store Also Planned
[Asia Economy Reporter Bu Aeri] The Presidential Transition Committee will establish a presidential direct agency to build a 'Digital Platform Government.' The plan includes creating a kind of 'government app store' by the end of President Yoon Seok-yeol's administration to host both public and private apps.
On the 7th, Ko Jin, head of the Digital Platform Government Task Force (TF) of the Transition Committee, said at the 'Digital Platform Government Innovation Strategy' seminar held at the National Assembly Members' Office Building, "The TF will design a strong implementation system," adding, "The presidential direct committee will thoroughly handle the specific implementation and execution plans of the Digital Platform Government."
He explained, "The most important thing is that data must flow," and added, "Currently, our government structure causes data to be siloed within ministries, but we aim to have entities that can let data flow like water and create value step forward to develop citizen services and policy-making platforms."
The Digital Platform Government focuses on digital transformation, artificial intelligence (AI), and big data utilization. Related concepts were also unveiled at the discussion forum that day.
The plan is to create a 'data lake' where various government data is gathered, and build a platform similar to an app store that AI can utilize. Public apps equipped with government functions will be developed, and apps created by private companies using public data will also be fostered.
