Choi Ji-hyun, the chief deputy spokesperson of the Transition Committee, stated in an afternoon briefing, "In the work report, the Board of Audit and Inspection explained that 'regarding the issues with the early shutdown audit of Wolseong Unit 1, due to refusal and avoidance of data submission by the audited agency and other uncooperative audit situations, the response process of the audit staff was insufficient, resulting in inaccurate fact verification.'
Choi also mentioned that some audit commissioners opposed the approval of the audit report pointing out problems with the early shutdown of Wolseong Unit 1, saying, "At the time of the first audit, there was no system to block external pressure on the Board of Audit and Inspection, and it was only possible to conduct the audit belatedly because there was a person, then Director Choi Jae-hyung, who resisted the living power."
According to the Transition Committee, the Board of Audit and Inspection reported improvement plans including establishing audit plans such as reviewing specific audit scopes in the advisory committee and preparing manuals to respond to audit obstruction.
Regarding punishment for false accusation, Chief Deputy Spokesperson Choi conveyed, "The Ministry of Justice plans to carefully prepare institutional improvement measures by listening to expert opinions and investigating and analyzing overseas legislative cases, and also plans to commission research projects for careful review."
Regarding the Ministry of Health and Welfare's report to the Transition Committee on the introduction of 'parent insurance,' he said, "Parent insurance is not an item under review at the Transition Committee level," and added, "The Transition Committee is prioritizing preparations for campaign promises such as activating parental leave and introducing parental benefits."
On whether South Korea will join the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP), he explained, "Nothing has been decided at all," and "Since it is an issue involving stakeholders, opinions will be formed after sufficient discussion."
Regarding the possibility of a BTS performance at President Yoon's inauguration ceremony, he explained, "The Transition Committee intended to clarify that it has never planned or discussed 'inviting BTS to the inauguration,'" and added, "The Presidential Inauguration Preparation Committee issued a statement that the idea came up during discussions."
