Gwangju Changkyung Center, Youth Startup-Focused Gwangju Citizen Hall Renovation Reopens
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] The Gwangju Center for Creative Economy and Innovation recently held a special lecture under the theme "Startup Community Way - Based on the Case of Jeju Creative Economy Innovation Center."
The Gwangju Center announced on the 5th that it invited Jeon Jeong-hwan, the head of Jeju Creative Economy Innovation Center, who transformed Jeju into a "Creative Island through New Connections," to give a special lecture aimed at exploring ways to strengthen local entrepreneurship and regional coexistence.
In particular, this special lecture shared specific plans and goals for introducing and advancing the network-centered space w360, remodeled from the Jeju Meteorological Office, and the one-month living experience in Jeju, a regional-based urban regeneration model that activates startups. Through this, the role of the Gwangju Center in the local sector was redefined.
The Gwangju Center has led regional innovation through projects such as the 1913 Songjeong Station Market development and the Cheongchun Balsan Village project operation, and discovered promising local companies through the "2021 Turn It Project," which achieved social ventures and sustainable regional growth.
Representative companies include "Silvia Health," which develops an AI-based elderly cognitive health smart care system that solves various physical and psychological problems experienced during aging, and "Reharvest," which manufactures eco-friendly food by upcycling food byproducts such as Sikhye and beer residues.
Starting this year, the Gwangju Center will inject new vitality into the local economy by discovering and nurturing local creator startup companies within the Gwangju area through the newly operated Gwangju Citizen Hall Youth Startup Support Project, the New Business Startup Academy, and the Youth Local Creator Training Course, fostering mutual coexistence and development within the region.
