ChargeLink is KEPCO's open platform that intermediates roaming charging. Roaming refers to a service that connects charging service providers and EV users, allowing EV users to conveniently charge anytime and anywhere with a single charging card regardless of the type of charging provider.
Through this agreement, KEPCO plans to collaborate with 30 partner companies including SK Energy, E1, HumaxEV, and Korea Electric Vehicle Charging Service to launch 'ChargeLink 2.0' by the second half of this year, adding various platform-based charging convenience features to the existing roaming service.
New features such as QR roaming, reservation roaming, electronic wallets, charger fault diagnosis, and simple parking fee payment services will be introduced.
The number of charging providers covered by the ChargeLink service is also expected to expand from 13 in 2020 to 40 this year.
KEPCO stated that the scope of business-to-business (B2B) charging services providing charging infrastructure to private charging operators was previously limited to public chargers but has recently expanded to include apartment chargers.
Charging operators have secured an additional 6,749 apartment chargers in addition to the 2,652 public chargers already provided, enabling charging services to be offered for all chargers operated by KEPCO (9,401 units).
A KEPCO official said, "If leading domestic charging service companies cooperate to develop new platform-based services, the convenience of EV charging will be dramatically improved, and the EV charging business ecosystem can be greatly expanded."
