[Asia Economy Reporter Jeong Dong-hoon] The team of President-elect Yoon Seok-yeol, who nominated former Prime Minister Han Deok-soo as the first prime minister candidate of the new government, is expected to complete the appointments of key government officials, including the Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs, by the 15th of this month.
A spokesperson for the president-elect said on the 3rd at the transition committee press room in Tongui-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul, "It usually takes about three weeks from the announcement of ministerial candidates to the confirmation hearings," adding, "We hope that the confirmation hearing for the prime minister candidate can be held before the president's inauguration if possible. Considering the confirmation hearings, it would be appropriate to announce the ministerial candidates before the 15th of this month."
Regarding the Deputy Prime Minister who will work in harmony with Prime Minister candidate Han Deok-soo as the 'economic core team,' the spokesperson stated, "The Deputy Prime Minister should be someone who can harmonize and create synergy with the prime minister, who has experience, seniority, and government administration experience," and "As the economic core team, we are currently working on appointing someone who can coordinate well with the president-elect, the prime minister, and the chief of staff.
