Cancer Patients Under Treatment at Hwasun Chonnam National University Hospital Continue to Support Medical Expenses for Other Patients
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Yoon Jamin] A cancer patient receiving treatment at Hwasun Chonnam National University Hospital has attracted attention by continuously donating medical expenses to help other patients.
According to Hwasun Chonnam National University Hospital on the 3rd, Kim Malrae (75, female), who is undergoing chemotherapy in the Department of Oncology, designated a donation of 10 million won in medical expenses through the Jeonnam Community Chest of Korea, asking to help patients who are in more difficult situations than herself.
Kim underwent oral tongue cancer surgery at another hospital last year and had surgery in March this year at the Department of Thoracic Surgery at Hwasun Chonnam National University Hospital due to suspected secondary malignant neoplasm of the lung.
Kim said, "I am struggling with cancer, and my husband also passed away after battling cancer," adding, "I feel compassion for cancer patients and decided to donate to help those who are economically struggling and unable to receive timely treatment."
Another patient, Jung Mo (37, female), also designated a donation of 1 million won.
Jung was diagnosed with myelodysplastic syndrome of unspecified type (blood cancer) in the Department of Hematology in September last year and received a hematopoietic stem cell transplant in January this year.
Jung, who is regularly undergoing outpatient follow-up and medication treatment, said, "I decided to donate to express my gratitude to the hematopoietic stem cell donor and to give courage and help to patients in the same situation as myself."
