Jeon Nam-do Councilor Lee Min-jun Registers as Naju Mayor Preliminary Candidate After Resigning from Council
Assemblyman Lee Min-jun: "I Will Use My 20 Years of Local Political Experience for Naju's Development"
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yukbong] Lee Minjun, a member of the Jeonnam Provincial Assembly (Democratic Party of Korea, Naju 1), announced on the afternoon of the 1st that he has resigned from the provincial assembly and completed his preliminary candidate registration with the Election Commission, officially beginning his campaign for the Naju mayoral election.
Candidate Lee Minjun first reflected, “Twenty years ago, as a young man with a dream, I served as a member of the 7th Jeonnam Provincial Assembly. Through re-election and a third term, I even served as the vice chairman of the 11th Jeonnam Provincial Assembly’s first half. All of this was thanks to the citizens of Naju.”
He added, “Since the position of a provincial assembly member represents the citizens, I focused on legislative activities with a strong sense of responsibility, which delayed my resignation. Having concluded my time as an assembly member well, I will now approach the citizens as a preliminary candidate for Naju mayor.”
He continued, “Citizens disappointed with Naju’s administration over the past eight years are seeking new leadership. Based on my 20 years of experience in local politics, I aspire to become an honest and capable mayor who will create a new and prosperous Naju.”
Meanwhile, on the 23rd, Candidate Lee held a press conference announcing his candidacy for Naju mayor and promised ▲ focused development of the new energy industry, ▲ establishment of a rural-urban convergence city where the new town, old town, and rural areas develop together, ▲ promotion of Yeongsangang River water quality improvement and ecosystem restoration projects, ▲ realization of a millennium cultural tourism city, ▲ fostering smart agriculture and the sixth industry, and ▲ strengthening regional competitiveness through investment in educational infrastructure.
