Yeongam-gun Selected as Best for Fulfilling Promises in the 7th Local Government Term
Among 58 Pledged Projects, 49 Completed... Implementation Rate 94%
[Yeongam=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Jae-kyung] Yeongam-gun, Jeollanam-do received the highest grade (SA) in the 2022 pledge fulfillment and information disclosure evaluation conducted by the Korea Manifesto Practice Headquarters.
The Korea Manifesto Practice Headquarters formed an evaluation team consisting of experts and citizen activists to assess 226 local governments nationwide. They conducted a strict and objective evaluation on five items: pledge completion, achievement of 2021 goals, resident communication, web communication, and pledge consistency.
Yeongam-gun's 7th term pledge projects cover a total of 58 projects across 7 sectors, with 49 projects completed to date. Additionally, 9 projects are progressing smoothly, showing a 94% implementation rate.
This is significantly higher than the national average of 71.72% and Jeollanam-do's average of 65.28%.
Yeongam-gun analyzed that its systematic management, including quarterly pledge progress report meetings and semi-annual progress checks, has earned high evaluations for implementing all pledge projects without cancellation or suspension so far.
Furthermore, to manage and implement pledges effectively, Yeongam-gun established regulations for managing the mayor’s pledges, strengthening the institutional foundation. To satisfy residents' right to know and activate communication with residents, the county introduced on-tact administration such as citizen proposals, policy voting, and surveys on the county website, receiving high marks in the resident communication field as well.
A Yeongam-gun official stated, “The reason we were able to receive the highest grade (SA) in the final pledge fulfillment and information disclosure evaluation of the 7th term is the result of over 1,000 public officials feeling responsible and making efforts to implement the pledge projects promised to the residents.”
He added, “We will do our best to ensure that the remaining pledge projects are completed within the term.”
