Dongmyung University Selected for Creative Convergence Engineering Talent Development Project ... Receiving 1 Billion KRW Support Over 6 Years
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Hwang Du-yeol] Dongmyung University has been finally selected for the 'Creative Convergence Engineering Talent Cultivation Support Project Phase 3.'
The university will receive a total of 1 billion KRW in government funding over six years, from March 2022 to February 2028.
Kim Ki-ju, Director of the Engineering Education Innovation Center at Dongmyung University, stated, "In Phase 3 of the project, we will strengthen collaboration with regional university centers and discover and promote engineering education innovation programs that align with cultivating engineering talents leading new industry development."
The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and the Korea Institute for Advancement of Technology (KIAT) plan to select more than 10 consortia in Phase 3 and significantly enhance the cooperative network between the lead centers and participating centers.
They intend to set joint goals by new industry sectors and encourage the establishment and promotion of engineering education innovation plans and programs at the consortium level.
The 'Creative Convergence Engineering Talent Cultivation Support Project' began in 2007 to resolve the mismatch between industry and academia.
To address the imbalance caused by the gap between the technical level of university engineering graduates and the level required in the industrial field, Phase 1 developed engineering education improvement systems and educational programs within each university.
In Phase 2, to cultivate creative convergence talents demanded by the industry, practical industry-oriented programs such as capstone design and field training were further strengthened.
In Phase 3, the project plans to improve satisfaction among actual industry users regarding engineering students, strengthen region-based industry-academia cooperation, and cultivate regionally focused talents equipped with practical skills.
