Clean Pledge Ceremonies Planned Sequentially Starting with Gwangyang-eul on the 6th, Followed by Gokseong and Gurye
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Heo Seonsik] Congressman Seo Dong-yong (Democratic Party of Korea, Suncheon-Gwangyang-Gokseong-Gurye District) announced that he will hold a Clean Primary Pledge Ceremony in the upcoming 8th local elections “to lay the foundation for innovation in local politics through a clean election and to lead victory as a Democratic Party one team.”
The event will proceed sequentially starting with Gwangyang, followed by Gurye (6th at 11 a.m.) and Gokseong (6th at 2 p.m.). The Gwangyang Clean Pledge Ceremony will be held on the 4th (Monday) at 11 a.m. at the Gwangyang-eup election office in Gwangyang City, and candidates for Gwangyang mayor, as well as candidates for Jeonnam Provincial Assembly and Gwangyang City Council, are expected to attend.
Congressman Seo Dong-yong emphasized the importance of policy and vision primaries, saying, “This local election is to elect workers who will work for our region for four years and representatives of the region. At the same time, it is a golden opportunity for local prospective candidates, members of Jeollanam-do and the National Assembly, and local residents to unite as one to discuss new visions for the region and seek concrete implementation plans,” and expressed his intention to hold the Clean Primary Pledge Ceremony, stating, “The start is above all a clean and fair primary.”
The event will begin with Congressman Seo Dong-yong’s greeting, followed by the pledge ceremony of local election candidates, representative speeches by Gwangyang mayoral candidates, and a photo session.
The pledge will include five core commitments: ‘A primary where party members and local residents are the owners,’ ‘A primary that innovates the party,’ ‘A policy primary without negativity,’ ‘A clean primary,’ and ‘A primary that accepts the results.’
Seo Dong-yong, the local committee chairman, said, “When candidates compete in good faith with visions, policies, and capabilities according to the party’s fair and rational principles, everyone can accept the results and succeed as the Democratic Party one team.” He added, “The Suncheon-Gwangyang-Gokseong-Gurye local committee will do its best to lead political innovation and victory in the local elections starting with the Clean Primary Pledge Ceremony.”
