"CJ Freshway Presents 'The Healthier Bakery' Made with Our Rice and Wheat"
[Asia Economy Reporter Eunmo Koo] CJ Freshway announced on the 1st that it will newly launch a product line called ‘The Healthier Bakery,’ made with Korean rice and wheat.
The first products in The Healthier Bakery line include nine types of vegan bakery items and two types of high-protein cookies. Created in collaboration with the vegan bakery brand ‘Neoldam,’ these products contain no animal-derived ingredients such as butter, eggs, or milk, focusing mainly on desserts to allow consumers to enjoy vegan food lightly and pleasantly. To enhance both taste and health, allulose is used instead of sugar to reduce sugar and calories, and whole wheat and chickpeas are utilized to maintain a soft texture while increasing protein and dietary fiber content.
The variety includes pies, macarons, madeleines, and more. The vegan pies are 100% plant-based foods containing savory and mild chickpea cream instead of marshmallows. The vegan macarons are made using coconut oil instead of almond flour and butter. The madeleines are also made without butter, based on chickpeas, providing a balanced flavor and nutrition.
As the domestic vegan population grows, CJ Freshway plans to supply vegan bakery products to group meal services in schools, offices, and other institutions, making it easier for end consumers to access vegan foods. Additionally, within the first half of the year, the product line will be expanded to include castella, cakes, muffins, and more, using Korean wheat and rice as main ingredients.
