A man in his 40s was arrested for assaulting his mother in her 80s, who was battling cancer, leading to her death.

The Uiwang Police Station in Gyeonggi announced on the 30th that Mr. A was detained on charges of killing a family member. The court held a warrant hearing that day and issued a detention warrant for Mr. A.
Mr. A is accused of brutally beating his mother, Ms. B, who was fighting stomach cancer, with his fists at his apartment in Samdong, Uiwang-si, Gyeonggi. It was reported that only Mr. A and Ms. B lived in the apartment.
On the 28th at 10:45 a.m., Ms. B’s sibling, who had come to visit their sister, found Ms. B dead inside the house and reported it to 112. Mr. A was apprehended by the police around 4 p.m. that same day in the city.
The exact time of the crime has not yet been determined, but based on the condition of Ms. B’s body, the police believe several days had passed since the incident. They have requested an autopsy from the National Forensic Service.
According to the police investigation, Mr. A stated, "My mother was suffering from stomach cancer and there was no one to take care of her, so I was distressed," and "I also thought about ending my own life."
