Seven Eleven and Junggonara Join Hands to Launch Contactless Secondhand Trading Service
[Asia Economy Reporter Jeon Jinyoung] Convenience store 7-Eleven announced on the 31st that it has established a partnership with Korea’s largest secondhand trading platform, Junggonara, and will expand lifestyle services to enhance customer convenience.
On the afternoon of the 30th, 7-Eleven signed a “Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for Resource Circulation and Safe Peer-to-Peer Transactions” with Junggonara. The signing ceremony held at 7-Eleven headquarters in Jung-gu, Seoul, was attended by key representatives from both companies, including Hong Jun, CEO of Junggonara, and Choi Kyungho, CEO of 7-Eleven.
This MOU between 7-Eleven and Junggonara is part of efforts to create synergy by utilizing online and offline distribution channels, which have been explored since Lotte Shopping invested in Junggonara last year.
Through this agreement, 7-Eleven plans to promote the “Junggonara Contactless Direct Transaction Pickup Service” at approximately 11,000 stores nationwide. This contactless direct transaction pickup service allows sellers and buyers to set appointments in advance, with sellers consigning products at nearby 7-Eleven stores, enabling buyers to pick up items at their convenience.
This service eliminates risks associated with various crimes that may occur during secondhand transactions and resolves time and spatial constraints caused by direct transactions. It is also expected to encourage Junggonara users to visit stores, contributing to additional revenue generation for franchisees.
The two companies will also conduct sales of products nearing their expiration dates. In February, 7-Eleven signed a sales contract with Junggonara for products close to their expiration dates. Currently, various products nearing expiration can be purchased at discounted prices through the “Spr Market (Special Price Market)” section on the Junggonara platform.
