Gyeonggi-do Provides 300,000 KRW for School Uniform Purchase to Alternative Education Institution Entrants
[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Gyeonggi Province will provide school uniform purchase support worth 600 million KRW to about 2,000 students who enrolled in unlicensed alternative education institutions and middle and high schools in other cities and provinces.
The support targets first-year students registered as residents in Gyeonggi Province as of the enrollment date, and the support amount is up to 300,000 KRW per person in cash.
From this year, the province has opened an online portal so that eligible applicants do not need to visit the city or county office in person and can easily apply and check results via the internet or smartphone.
Accordingly, students or guardians can apply from April 1 to the end of August by preparing required documents such as school uniform purchase receipts and enrollment certificates on Gyeonggi Minwon 24 (gg24.gg.go.kr). If online application is not possible, applicants can visit the relevant city/county office or administrative welfare center to apply.
Since 2019, the province has been supporting school uniform costs for students enrolled in alternative education institutions and middle and high schools in other cities and provinces to eliminate blind spots in school uniform support and realize educational welfare for residents nationwide for the first time. Over the past three years, more than 3,300 people have benefited.
