[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Gyeonggi Province will provide 636.8 billion KRW in subsidies for purchasing eco-friendly vehicles such as electric cars this year.
On the 31st, Gyeonggi Province announced that it will support a total of 63.68 billion KRW in subsidies for the purchase of 38,465 eco-friendly vehicles, including electric and hydrogen cars, in cooperation with the Ministry of Environment and local city and county governments within the province. This is nearly double the supply volume of 21,354 units last year.
For electric vehicles, the province will subsidize up to 11 million KRW per passenger car for 27,497 units, 112 million KRW per bus for 955 units, and 23 million KRW per cargo truck for 6,486 units. Last year, subsidies were provided for 11,547 passenger cars, 500 buses, and 5,596 cargo trucks.
For hydrogen vehicles, subsidies of up to 40 million KRW per passenger car for 3,497 units and up to 300 million KRW per bus for 30 units will be provided. Last year, subsidies were given for 3,700 passenger cars and 11 buses.
Additionally, the province will provide an extra 2 million KRW per vehicle when scrapping grade 5 old diesel vehicles and purchasing electric or hydrogen passenger cars, or when companies located in industrial complexes within the province or their employees purchase electric or hydrogen passenger cars.
Those wishing to purchase zero-emission vehicles can visit nearby car dealerships for guidance. After consultation, applicants fill out and submit the purchase support application and contract for subsidy support, and the dealership will handle submitting the documents to the respective city or county and other related procedures.
Detailed information on subsidy amounts by vehicle type, support methods, and other details for zero-emission vehicle purchases can be found on the websites of the respective city or county governments or on the Low Emission Vehicle Integrated Information Portal (www.ev.or.kr) announcement page.
