Former Seoul City Administration Director Hwang In-sik Declares Candidacy for Seocho District Mayor... Promises to Form Expert Task Force to Address Property Tax Issues

[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Hwang In-sik, former Seoul City Administrative Director, officially announced his candidacy for Seocho District Mayor on the 30th.
Hwang In-sik, a preliminary candidate for Seocho District Mayor from the People Power Party, held a press conference on the day and said, "I proudly began my career in public service by choosing it as my first profession and settling down in Seocho." He added, "During my 11 years working in Seocho, I served as director and head of six departments, traveling throughout every corner of Seocho, dedicating myself solely to the development of Seocho and creating a happy Seocho for its residents."
He also stated, "At Seoul City, I have held key positions in urban development, welfare, personnel, and budgeting, gaining know-how in city administration and diverse experience,
and while working at Seoul City, I have never once forgotten Seocho, my administrative hometown."
Candidate Hwang declared, "I will link the diverse administrative experience and know-how from Seocho District and Seoul City to create a synergy effect for a 'Better Seocho District.' I pride myself on being an administrative expert who knows the true nature of Seocho well based on my various experiences and know-how, and with the heart of a salmon returning to its administrative and public service hometown, I am running for Seocho District Mayor in the upcoming June 1 local elections."
He continued, "Recently, various social issues such as the business impact on self-employed people due to COVID-19, youth unemployment, elderly poverty, and low birth rates have deepened," adding, "Moreover, the housing problem has reached a panic level beyond a serious situation. In these difficult times, it is crucial for the government and local governments to have sincere consideration and fundamental measures to solve these social issues."
Candidate Hwang pledged, "Focusing on efforts to solve these social problems, I will develop Seocho into a productive city by promoting eco-friendly industry discovery and job creation, a cultural tourism city by linking excellent cultural and artistic resources with tourism infrastructure, and a warm welfare city through childcare welfare and low birth rate countermeasures, opening a 'Vigorously Rebounding Seocho.'"
His key core pledges include ▲the three-dimensional development project of the Gyeongbu arterial road and development of the former Information Command site ▲creation of eco-friendly premium residential complexes in the National Assembly complex, Seongdui Village, and Heonin Village ▲construction of a Seocho-type complex welfare town ▲construction of a complex sports facility at Banpo General Sports Complex ▲increasing the ratio and improving infrastructure of national and public daycare centers,
and he presented a total of 13 pledges to be steadily pursued.
He also announced that to address the biggest concerns of Seocho residents, such as property tax and other holding taxes, as well as housing issues like reconstruction and redevelopment, he will form an expert-centered task force team, serve as its head, and communicate directly with residents to carefully manage these issues.
Candidate Hwang appealed for support, saying, "The solutions prepared here will be actively presented to the government, and I will do everything in my power to ensure Seocho’s intentions are realized. From the first day of my term as district mayor, I will skillfully manage district administration as an administrative expert of Seocho and open a better and warmer Seocho through participation and communication."
