'We Are Hiring IT Talent' KT Group to Recruit 12,000 New Employees Over 3 Years... Largest Ever
New Software Developer Recruitment Established, Only Coding Test Conducted
Hiring-Linked Internship Program for College Graduates Based on Job Field
Active Regional Talent Selection Through 6 Major Metropolitan Headquarters
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Hye-seon] KT Group has announced its largest-ever new hiring plan to foster the growth of digital platform companies (Digico). KT revealed on the 29th that it will conduct a total of 12,000 new hires over the next three years starting this year.
The hiring method has also been completely changed. For the newly established software developer recruitment, there are no academic restrictions. The document screening and aptitude tests have been eliminated, and only a coding test is conducted. Applicants with excellent coding skills will be hired as KT new employees if they pass only the personality test and interview.
For college graduate new hires, an internship program linked to recruitment is operated depending on the job field. The recruitment period for college graduate new hires is from the 29th to the 11th of next month, selecting candidates in five job fields: SW development, information technology (IT) security, ICT infrastructure technology, distribution channel management, and Biz sales. Among these, applicants in the ICT infrastructure technology, distribution channel management, and Biz sales fields will be finally hired after completing an internship. The recruitment process for experienced professionals and master's/PhD holders in new business fields such as IT, robotics, and biohealth has been switched to year-round continuous hiring.
KT is also actively selecting local talent. Through the ‘KT Able School,’ which provides free practical training in artificial intelligence (AI) and digital transformation (DX), KT directly nurtures and hires talent. To enhance the competitiveness of students in provincial areas, KT plans to select 1,200 trainees annually based at its six major regional headquarters and nurture a total of 3,600 local talents by 2024.
For AI personnel, KT has established a master's program in AI in collaboration with Hanyang University and KAIST, hiring graduates as researchers. Selected talents will participate not only in theoretical education courses such as natural language processing, speech recognition, and deep learning but also in KT’s large-scale AI projects, working as KT researchers after graduation.

Efforts to recreate jobs for retired employees have also been strengthened. For employees aged 50 and above, KT actively implements the Tomorrow Planning Leave System for life planning after retirement and reemployment of retirees aged 60 and above as senior consultants. Starting this year, KT plans to hire about 800 retirees aged 60 and above as ‘Safety Assistants’ in group companies, contributing to the prevention of industrial accidents and the creation of senior jobs.
