Gwangju Seo-gu to Recruit 'Dementia Specialist Volunteers' Until the 8th of Next Month
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Shin Dong-ho] Seo-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City announced on the 28th that it is recruiting dementia-specialized volunteers to participate in the ‘Parangsae Messenger’ project, which provides temporary rest to families of dementia patients to alleviate the burden of caregiving.
The Parangsae Messenger project involves weekly home visits to elderly dementia patients to provide care and companionship, offering short-term protection for dementia patients and cognitive rehabilitation activities.
Additionally, volunteers will play various roles as emotional supporters, such as creating vegetable gardens together with senior citizens at community centers and families of dementia patients.
Applicants for the project must be residents of Seo-gu, Gwangju, who have a strong interest and understanding of dementia care and can consistently volunteer for more than six months.
The recruitment period is until the 8th of next month, and applications can be submitted by visiting the Seo-gu Dementia Safety Center or by phone.
A Seo-gu official stated, “Through the selection of Parangsae Messengers, we aim to establish an emotional support system involving local residents for marginalized dementia patients and their families, and through this, strive to improve the quality of life for families of dementia patients.”
