Ministry of Unification "Monitoring Signs of North Korea's Nuclear Test... Urges Halt and Return to Dialogue"
[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Ji-eun] The Ministry of Unification recently urged North Korea to halt its activities, stating it is "closely monitoring" signs that North Korea is restoring the Punggye-ri nuclear test site in Kilju County, North Hamgyong Province, which was demolished four years ago, and showing indications of conducting nuclear tests.
At a briefing on the 28th, Ministry of Unification spokesperson Lee Jong-joo stated, "We sternly urge North Korea to immediately cease all related activities and come onto the path of dialogue and cooperation proposed by us and the international community."
He also emphasized that South Korean and U.S. authorities are monitoring related signs, saying, "The government is thoroughly preparing for all possibilities based on close South Korea-U.S. cooperation."
