US National Security Advisor: "The United States Has No Intention to Use Chemical Weapons"
[Asia Economy New York=Special Correspondent Joselgina] The Joe Biden administration of the United States has stated that the U.S. has no intention of using chemical weapons under any circumstances.
According to CNN and others, Jake Sullivan, White House National Security Advisor, held a briefing on the 25th (local time) on board the plane heading from Brussels, Belgium to Poland with President Joe Biden, saying, "The United States has no intention of using chemical weapons under any circumstances."
This is a clarification following controversy over whether President Biden's statement at a press conference the previous day, that if Russia uses chemical weapons in Ukraine, "it will trigger a response, and the type of response depends on the nature of the use," implied the possibility of chemical weapon use.
Advisor Sullivan emphasized that President Biden mentioned that if Russia uses chemical weapons, the U.S. would respond "accordingly," explaining, "This means choosing the form and nature of our response based on the nature of the actions taken by Russia."
