The Transition Committee Discusses 'Training 1 Million Digital Talents' with the Ministry of Education

The Science and Technology Education Subcommittee of the Transition Committee received a briefing from the Ministry of Education and reviewed tasks to be pursued by the new government in connection with President-elect Yoon Seok-yeol's pledges.
At the meeting, issues such as artificial intelligence (AI) and software (SW) education, strengthening educational expertise, reducing teachers' workload, and revising the curriculum were discussed.
They also examined deregulation reforms in universities, curriculum innovation, strengthening universities' roles as startup platforms, and measures to expand funding for higher education.
Additionally, they discussed ways to build a local university development ecosystem involving local governments, universities, and companies to enable universities to lead regional balanced development as regional hubs, strengthen regional lifelong education systems, and utilize startup spaces.
Furthermore, they agreed to gather field opinions and discuss countermeasures regarding school COVID-19 response support, resolving educational disparities, and the high school credit system.
