Yeonggwang-gun Supports Paternity Leave Incentives... Up to 3 Million Won
[Yeonggwang=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Jeonseong] Yeonggwang-gun, Jeollanam-do announced on the 25th that starting next month, it will implement the "Dad Parental Leave Incentive Support Project" to encourage male workers to take parental leave and to promote work-life balance and a family-friendly social environment.
Under this project, male workers who take parental leave after the 6th of next month will receive an incentive of 500,000 KRW per month for up to 6 months, totaling 3 million KRW.
The eligibility criteria are: ▲ the parental leave taker must have been continuously registered as a resident in the county for more than one year as of the application date ▲ the child eligible for parental leave must be registered as a resident in the county as of the application date ▲ the applicant must meet the payment conditions for parental leave benefits under Article 70 of the Employment Insurance Act. The incentive will be paid only to male parental leave takers who satisfy all three conditions.
Applications can be submitted in person at the relevant eup/myeon office with a parental leave confirmation certificate and a parental leave benefit payment decision notice (issued by the Ministry of Employment and Labor Employment Center) from one month after the start date of parental leave up to six months after the end date.
A county official stated, "We expect this to expand opportunities for male participation in childcare and reduce the economic burden associated with parental leave, contributing to work-life balance and the creation of a family-friendly social environment. We will continue to do our best to make the county a good place to have and raise children."
