[Wando=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Kyung-pil] Wando-gun, Jeollanam-do announced on the 24th that it will expand projects related to eco-friendly agricultural products this year.
Looking into the project details, this year the support for eco-friendly agricultural product certification fees will be expanded from 80% last year to 100% this year. Additionally, a total of 1.2 billion KRW will be invested, including support for organic fertilizer (1 billion KRW), nutritional supplements for certified farms (80 million KRW), support for young seedlings for fruit tree farms (50 million KRW), eco-friendly agricultural product packages for pregnant women, and subscriptions to eco-friendly agricultural technology newsletters.
Before implementing the project, the county plans to hold a meeting with rice cultivation joint pest control officials to improve certification achievements for eco-friendly agricultural products (organic, pesticide-free) and communicate with farmers. The meeting will include discussions on adjusting pest control support rates and listening to difficulties in pest control in eco-friendly agricultural complexes.
Furthermore, to promote sustainable high-income agriculture, next year the county plans to promote contract cultivation of eco-friendly agricultural products targeting young farmers (vegetable and fruit tree categories), supplying agricultural products to local school meals, thereby promoting the excellence of Wando Nature-As-Is agricultural products.
A county official stated, "Fostering eco-friendly agriculture is a way to increase farmers' income and is a key policy of the county, so we will do our best to promote it," and urged, "Please subscribe to crop disaster insurance to compensate for damages from unpredictable agricultural disasters such as abnormal low temperatures for stable agricultural management."
