Appointment of New CEO at Regular General Meeting
[Asia Economy Reporter Moon Chaeseok] SKC has appointed Park Woncheol as its new CEO.
On the 24th, SKC announced that it held a shareholders' meeting and a board meeting, where it resolved to appoint Park as CEO. Park is a new business expert who has worked at global consulting firm BCG, GS Energy, Hana Asset Management, and has been involved in global growth and business discovery at SK Supex Council. He led SK Group's global investments, including investments in Vietnam's Masan Group and Vingroup, as well as Japan's eco-friendly materials company TBM. He has been serving as SKC's CEO since January.
SKC aims to establish a business structure centered on ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) business models such as secondary batteries, focusing investments on global expansion and future growth engines to build a foundation for 'Leap & Reap.' In the SKC YouTube video released that day titled "CEO, Nice to Meet You," Park expressed his ambition, stating, "SKC will establish itself as SK Group's representative materials company, recognized as the top pick in the materials sector in the market, and further as a global ESG materials solution company representing South Korea." He added, "We must discard prejudices, maintain balance, and be flexible."

SKC's board appointed outside director Park Youngseok as the new chairman of the board. The company expects that with Park as chairman, the board's independence will be further strengthened. Chairman Park is regarded as one of the top domestic experts in the capital market field, having served as president of the Korean Securities Association and the Financial Society, a member of the Financial Services Commission's Financial Development Review Committee, and president of the Capital Market Research Institute. Kim Yangtaek, head of SK㈜ Advanced Materials Investment Center, was appointed as a non-executive director.
