Naver Accelerates Nationwide Expansion of 'Clova Care Call' Service for Middle-Aged and Elderly Single-Person Households
[Asia Economy Reporter Seungjin Lee] Naver announced on the 24th that 'Clova Care Call' has started beta services in Daegu and Incheon following Haeundae-gu, Busan, rapidly expanding its adoption nationwide.
?
'Clova Care Call' is a service that uses artificial intelligence (AI) to check on the well-being of elderly people living alone via phone calls and engage in free conversations. It first launched its beta service in November last year in Haeundae-gu, Busan. Applying Naver’s self-developed large-scale AI technology called ‘HyperClova,’ it offers a natural conversational experience on various topics rather than mechanical check-ins.
?
Naver has officially started the pilot service of 'Clova Care Call' targeting 100 and 50 middle-aged single-person households in Daegu and Incheon, respectively. The AI automatically calls the participants once a week to check on their well-being with topics such as meals, sleep, and health. The call results are delivered to local government officials, enabling follow-up actions if necessary.
Naver expects that the introduction of ‘Clova Care Call’ will enable much more effective care administration compared to the previous method where public officials individually called elderly people to check on them. The satisfaction level among elderly users is also very high. A survey conducted on elderly participants in the Haeundae-gu pilot project showed that 95% of them wished to continue using the ‘Clova Care Call’ service in the future.
?
Naver plans to continuously enhance the technology and services while expanding cooperation with various local governments nationwide to introduce ‘Clova Care Call.’
?
Jung Seok-geun, CEO of Naver Clova CIC, said, “‘Clova Care Call’ is gaining positive responses as a service that not only checks on the elderly’s well-being but also cares for their ‘emotional well-being’ through natural conversations as if talking with a friend. Based on Naver’s AI technology and field expertise, we will continue to expand cooperation so that ‘Clova Care Call’ can become a ‘companion’ for more elderly people living alone.”
