1.2 Million Pre-Downloads... Nexon Launches 'Dungeon & Fighter Mobile' in Korea
[Asia Economy Reporter Seungjin Lee] The original "K-Game," "Dungeon & Fighter," has been officially released on mobile.
Nexon officially launched "Dungeon & Fighter Mobile" in South Korea at 8 a.m. on the 24th via Google Play and the Apple App Store. Up to 1 million users can connect simultaneously, and players can create characters by choosing one of the eight servers. The game is operated with age ratings of 12+ and restricted for teenagers.
Pre-downloads on the two major app markets, which began the day before the release, reached a total of 1.2 million, and pre-character creations reached 1.1 million. This set the record for the highest number of pre-downloads and character creations among mobile games released by Nexon.
Dungeon & Fighter Mobile is a 2D action game that faithfully recreates the tactile feel of manual controls enjoyed in arcades under the development slogan "Action Thrill." It depicts the journey of adventurers on the continent of Arad, where beautiful legends and tragic wars coexist.
The game includes ▲ five representative characters: Slayer, Fighter, Gunner, Mage, and Priest, and 11 job advancement characters ▲ a duel arena where players compete using continuous skill attacks (combos) ▲ the challenging Lotus Raid, which requires up to six players to cooperate ▲ and avatars that allow players to personalize their characters, incorporating the core content of the original Dungeon & Fighter into the mobile platform.
Nexon supports a PC version that allows cross-play with mobile accounts for user convenience. Players can download a separate client, not an emulator (a program that allows smartphone apps to run on PCs), to enjoy the same gameplay experience on both mobile and PC anytime, anywhere.
Yoon Myung-jin, Neople’s General Director, stated, “We focused on maximizing the feeling of direct manual control so that adventurers can enjoy the fast and exhilarating action of the original game on mobile as well.” Yoon, known as the "Dungeon & Fighter Man," joined Neople as a new employee in 2008 and has been dedicated solely to the development of the Dungeon & Fighter IP. He currently oversees all Dungeon & Fighter IP projects at Neople.
Choi Sung-wook, Head of Nexon Publishing Live Division, emphasized, “We have taken a new starting line on mobile with the Dungeon & Fighter IP, which is considered a representative cultural content of South Korea. Our goal is to establish it as a ‘beloved game’ among adventurers with an uncompromising attitude toward the game’s outstanding quality and stability.”
To commemorate the game’s launch, Nexon will start various events from the 24th. First, all players who log in will receive four types of login event items, including gold, armor crafting materials, and stamina. There will also be a level-up event to support character growth and a mini-game where players can obtain various consumable items.
Additionally, until May 31, the “Moonlight’s Teaching Event Dungeon” will be operated, where players can earn event coins. These coins can be used in the event shop to purchase items such as Hell Party invitations needed for acquiring high-level equipment, unique souls, event auras, and titles for customization.
