O Se-hoon’s Congratulatory Address at the Opening Ceremony of the 100th Anniversary Exhibition of Kwon Jin-gyu, a Pioneer of Modern and Contemporary Korean Sculpture
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon will attend the opening ceremony of the exhibition "Kwon Jin-gyu 100th Anniversary ? Nosil's Angel," held on the 24th at the Seoul Museum of Art to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the birth of Kwon Jin-gyu, a pioneer of modern and contemporary Korean sculpture. He will deliver a congratulatory speech and view the artworks.
About 50 people will attend the opening ceremony, including Kwon Jin-gyu's bereaved family member Mrs. Kwon Kyung-sook, Kwon Oh-gon, advisor of the Kwon Jin-gyu Memorial Project Association, Kim Hong-nam, chairman of the National Trust Cultural Heritage Fund, and Yoon Bum-mo, director of the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art.
In his congratulatory speech, Mayor Oh plans to express gratitude regarding the donation of 141 works to the Seoul Museum of Art last year by the bereaved family and the Kwon Jin-gyu Memorial Project Association.

The exhibition will be held from the opening ceremony day through May 22 on the first floor of the Seosomun Main Building of the Seoul Museum of Art. It will showcase a total of about 180 works, including around 60 donated pieces. Visitors can experience sculptures, paintings, drawings, and archives spanning from Kwon Jin-gyu's major works of the 1950s to his peak works of the 1970s.
