Gwangju Nam-gu to Open 'Family Love Sharing and Self-Sufficiency Center' in March Next Year
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] Nam-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City, is set to actively proceed with the construction of the Family Love Sharing and Regional Self-Sufficiency Center, aiming for completion in March next year.
According to Nam-gu on the 23rd, a groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of the Family Love Sharing and Regional Self-Sufficiency Center was held in the Nodae-dong area that afternoon, attended by District Mayor Kim Byung-nae, Gwangju city officials, and local council members.
The Family Love Sharing and Regional Self-Sufficiency Center was selected in 2019 through a government-led Living SOC Complex competition. The center will house a Together Care Center and a Co-Parenting Sharing Space aimed at childcare and caregiving, as well as a Self-Sufficiency Center to support the economic independence of low-income residents, and a Toy Library.
The construction period is scheduled to last one year from the groundbreaking day until March next year, with a total construction cost expected to be approximately 8.727 billion KRW.
After completion, the Nam-gu Family Love Sharing Center and Regional Self-Sufficiency Center are expected to be actively utilized as spaces for co-parenting, elementary student care, job creation for low-income residents with work capabilities, and resolving employment issues.
Since the building will have the dual complex functions of family love and economic independence success, Nam-gu introduced an independent spatial design method from the architectural design stage to maximize each function.
Additionally, taking advantage of the natural environment with Pulbit Neighborhood Park and forest located to the northwest of the site, the building will be newly constructed as an open-type structure incorporating both urban and natural elements inside and outside.
