Goheung-gun Receives Positive Response for Mobile Mini Library Operation

[Goheung=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Shim Jeong-woo] Goheung County in Jeollanam-do announced that it is operating a 'Visiting Mini Library' inside the Nonghyup Goheung County Branch, a place frequently visited by residents, to provide reading convenience and promote reading habits in daily life.

The Visiting Mini Library offers an opportunity to read for residents who find it difficult to use the library, and serves as a space for rest and healing where Nonghyup customers can read newly arrived books during their waiting time.

In particular, due to the increased number of library closures last year caused by COVID-19, library usage and book borrowing decreased by about 50% compared to before. Therefore, the mini library was installed and operated inside the Nonghyup County Branch, which many residents visit, to provide convenience for reading and to foster a culture of reading.

Additionally, to promote reading habits among residents, new books will be purchased and stocked quarterly in the mini library. Even those who are not members of the county library but have an address in Goheung can freely borrow up to three books per person for 14 days during Nonghyup operating hours.

User A said, "It was inconvenient to make a separate trip to the library, but now I can read books I want to read here even for a short time while waiting at Nonghyup, and since borrowing books is also possible, visiting Nonghyup has become enjoyable. I think I will use the mini library often in the future."

A county official said, "We expect that a natural reading atmosphere will be created through the mini library, and we will do our best to revitalize the reading culture in daily life."
