[Namwon=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Jeong Young-kwon] Namwon City, Jeonbuk, announced on the 22nd that it is accepting applications for the ‘Support Project for Installing Emission Reduction Devices on Old Diesel Vehicles’ until the 31st to reduce fine dust.
The support project for installing emission reduction devices will cover about 100 vehicles (subject to change within the project budget), and the self-payment cost ranges from 10% to 12.5% of the device price. For livelihood vehicles, full support is provided without any self-payment.
Within the budget range, beneficiaries will be selected based on priority (livelihood or commercial vehicles, total weight over 3.5 tons), the most recent initial registration date, and the length of ownership by the current owner.
Application and selection requirements include owning a grade 5 diesel vehicle registered in Namwon as of December 31 of last year, one vehicle per person ▲ vehicle owners with no outstanding local taxes or environmental improvement charges ▲ vehicles that have not previously had emission reduction devices installed or been converted to low-emission engines through government support ▲ vehicles that meet the certification conditions for emission reduction devices.
Upon installation, the environmental improvement charge is exempted for 3 years. However, even if the vehicle is eligible, installation may be impossible due to underbody corrosion or other issues confirmed by the manufacturer or repair shop.
Applications can be submitted in person at Namwon City’s Environment Division or the Eup/Myeon Administrative Welfare Centers until the 31st. To prevent the spread of COVID-19, applications can also be submitted by registered mail or online.
