Gochang-gun Successfully Concludes Rural Agreement Living Area Promotion Committee Workshop

[Gochang=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Jaegil] On the 22nd, Jeonbuk Gochang-gun announced that on the 21st, it held a ‘Rural Agreement Living Area Promotion Committee’ workshop with representatives of residents from 14 towns and townships in the jurisdiction and intermediary support organizations at the Dangchon Area Harmony Center.

About 40 people attended the Rural Agreement Living Area Promotion Committee, including heads of villages and townships in Gochang-gun, intermediary support organizations, Gochang-gun officials, consulting experts, and Korea Rural Community Corporation.

The workshop was conducted in compliance with quarantine rules such as checking for fever and respiratory symptoms and performing hand sanitization.

At the workshop, Yoo Young-min, director of Myeongso IMC (the consulting firm for Gochang-gun’s rural agreement promotion), served as the presenter and explained the concept and necessity of the rural agreement system, as well as the current progress of the rural agreement in Gochang-gun.

In addition, representatives of residents, administration, intermediary support organizations, and Gochang-gun analyzed the current status and issues, explained the composition of the living area, strategic plans, and the establishment of rural living area revitalization plans, and exchanged opinions.

The rural agreement is a system in which the relevant local government directly establishes a development direction for the living area and achieves rural policy goals by receiving up to 30 billion KRW in national funding over five years through an agreement with the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs.

The support method has also been converted to a joint investment format suitable for the era of local autonomy, focusing on achieving common policy goals and maximizing synergy effects through industrial linkage rather than investment by project units.

Park Seong-gi, director of the Agriculture, Fisheries and Food Division, said, “We will continue to hold the Rural Agreement Living Area Promotion Committee to listen to various opinions of residents and to draw interest and participation. We will complete a realistic business plan through thorough preparation and communication with residents.”
