Imsil-gun Opens 'Northern Region Sports Park' with 4.8 Billion Won Investment

[Imsil=Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Park Nosik] Imsil-gun, Jeonbuk announced on the 18th that it opened the ‘Northern Region Community Sports Park’ near Saseondae on the 17th to promote healthy physical activities among residents in the northern area.

About 100 people, including the Imsil County Governor, Jin Nam-geun, Chairman of the Imsil County Council, the President of the Imsil County Sports Association, club members, and residents, attended the completion ceremony to celebrate the opening of the Northern Region Community Sports Park.

With a total project cost of 4.8 billion KRW, the park was developed on a 30,387㎡ site next to Saseondae in Deokcheon-ri, Gwanchon-myeon, Imsil-gun, featuring one soccer field, one multipurpose field, 150 spectator seats, one restroom building, parking for 70 cars, and 15,000㎡ of green space.

The four northern myeon areas?Gwanchon-myeon, Sinpyeong-myeon, Unam-myeon, and Sindeok-myeon?had experienced an increase in community sports participants but lacked adequate sports infrastructure, causing inconvenience in physical activities.

With the completion of the Northern Region Community Sports Park, residents can now actively engage in sports activities in a spacious and pleasant environment.

The park was established in response to the removal of the soccer field at Saseondae, which was converted into an eco-friendly ecological park reflecting Saseon culture, fulfilling the demand from northern area residents for a multipurpose sports park including a soccer field.

The county has been actively working on large-scale sports facility projects to promote community sports that anyone can use and enjoy.

Currently, facilities worth a total of 43 billion KRW are under development, including a comprehensive gymnasium, Bandabi Sports Center, and the Jeollabuk-do International Archery Training Center.

The county expects that the introduction of various sports facilities will contribute to improving residents’ physical fitness and quality of life through healthy leisure activities.

In particular, with the establishment of various community sports facilities, the county anticipates maximizing sports marketing to attract training camps and national competitions, thereby revitalizing the local economy and expanding opportunities for residents to participate in community sports.

Previously, the county achieved significant results with the multipurpose gymnasium within the comprehensive stadium and the all-weather gateball field in Imsil-eup.

A county official said, “We hope that the Northern Region Community Sports Park will serve as a place for communication and harmony, as well as promoting health through community sports activities such as soccer, basketball, and jokgu.”

He added, “Utilizing natural resources such as Saseondae, a representative tourist attraction of Imsil, and the scenic Seomjin River, the park will help revitalize the local economy and increase residents’ income through tourism product development.”
