Volkswagen Arteon, the Return of the 'Most Beautiful Sedan'

Volkswagen New Arteon
Dynamic Design and Solid Driving Feel
[Asia Economy Reporter Choi Dae-yeol] Volkswagen's mid-size sedan Arteon facelift model was launched domestically earlier this year. It is a 4-door coupe with a sleek design that has a solid customer base both overseas and in Korea. The Arteon is a model that inherits the reputation of the previous CC, which aimed to be a 'comfortable coupe,' and Volkswagen itself calls it 'the most beautiful sedan.'
The new Arteon, true to its coupe nature, gives the impression that it is a car designed more for the front seats, especially the driver, rather than equally accommodating all passengers. Its elegant fastback design, seemingly inspired by classic sports cars, forms the basis of a dynamic sedan impression. The unique front design differentiates it from other sedan models of the same brand. The vehicle's front hood (bonnet) extends long, wrapping around the LED headlights, the chrome bar below, and the wheel arches, leaving an impression of meticulous design.
It also reduces air resistance, enabling efficient driving. The front bumper has been refined to give a more active feel. Newly applied radiator grille lighting crosses the lower chrome bar, emphasizing the wide front width. The overall vehicle line flows smoothly from the front grille to the rear LED taillights, making the vehicle's height appear lower. This contributes to the dynamic impression.
The chassis and drivetrain of the new car emphasize Gran Turismo performance, unlike other Volkswagen models. This means it remains comfortable even on long-distance drives. The strut-type independent front suspension (MacPherson strut) is combined with a 4-link independent rear suspension (multi-link) equipped with gas-filled dampers. Anti-roll bars are installed on both axles. Thanks to this suspension layout, the ride comfort has been significantly improved.
Adaptive Chassis Control (DCC) technology is standard on all trims, allowing the driver to adjust the suspension damper settings in 15 stages according to their preference. It offers everything from comfortable ride quality to firm, sports car-like handling. The next-generation engine, which reduces nitrogen oxide emissions by 80% compared to the previous model, is installed. It delivers a maximum output of 200 horsepower, 10 horsepower higher than before. Maximum torque is 40.8 kg·m, and combined fuel efficiency is 15.5 km per liter.
