[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Gwan-joo] KMI Korea Medical Institute announced on the 18th that its main health screening center (Gwanghwamun), Gangnam health screening center, and Gwangju health screening center received an ‘S grade’ in the ‘2021 Private Disaster Prevention Institution Evaluation’ conducted by the Ministry of Employment and Labor and the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency.
Special health examinations refer to health checkups aimed at preventing occupational diseases among workers in hazardous workplaces. The government conducts evaluations on the performance capabilities of private disaster prevention institutions such as special health examination institutions and safety management specialized institutions to strengthen their capabilities and improve the level of safety and health services, and publicly discloses the results in grades from S to D.
In this evaluation conducted on 216 special health examination institutions nationwide, 29 locations including KMI’s main health screening center (Gwanghwamun), Gangnam health screening center, and Gwangju health screening center received the highest S grade. The main health screening center (Gwanghwamun) and Gangnam health screening center achieved this for the fourth consecutive time, while the Gwangju health screening center achieved it for the third consecutive time. KMI Yeouido health screening center, Suwon health screening center, Busan health screening center, and Daegu health screening center each received an A grade, which is an excellent rating. Institutions that receive the S grade are granted benefits such as exemption from institutional inspections in 2022, highest scores when selected as private consignment project institutions, and recommendations for awards.
