Gangneung City, "'2022 World Choir Competition' Postponed by One Year"
July 3-13, 2023, Held in Gangneung Area
[Asia Economy Reporter Ra Young-cheol] The '2022 Gangneung World Choir Competition,' originally scheduled to be held in July this year, has been postponed by one year.
Gangneung City announced on the 17th, "We have agreed to postpone the competition through a video conference with the German Interkultur Foundation, the organizer of the event, and have officially confirmed this."
The city considered the Omicron variant's continued spread affecting the participating choirs' quarantine measures, government quarantine guidelines for large-scale events, prevention of community spread, and the safety of the public and competition participants.
Accordingly, the 12th World Choir Competition will be held under the official name '2023 Gangneung World Choir Competition' from July 3 to 13 next year, spanning 11 days throughout Gangneung City.
The World Choir Competition is an international event with the highest reputation in scale and quality in the global choral community, and the Gangneung competition was designated as an official government international event last August.
